-I'm currently in the process of writing a book.
The original main character is adopted and doesn't know anything at all about her past, as she was adopted at 5 months old, but the book is about her finding out where she is from etc.
The dilemma I have, is that the secondary character I have in mind seems to be more interesting, and I have a whole family tree and past experience ideas mapped out for him already. His personality seems more formed too and there are more references that I can make to his past, during the book.
So I guess what I wondered is if it would be a good idea to still centre on the 'quest' of the main character, but dwell quite a bit on the feelings and experiences of the secondary character along the way? I'm not sure.
Would you read a book like this?
Thanks :)Well, here's a my suggestion. It may get a bit difficult to follow if you focus on two characters
If you've got the second character mapped out so much, that tells me you can do the same to the main character, which will work especially well in both the book and for your storyline. She knows nothing (or hardly anything) about her life in the beginning, neither do the readers or you. As you go, she becomes more intricate, like building a web slowly. Do you follow?
Anyways, do what feels right to you!I think it would be a nice book to read, please keep working on it and if you think a secondary character would make it even more interesting, go ahead
It sounds like an interesting story and it's good that the secondary character is interesting. Many characters sometimes take on a different life than when you originally might have planned but it's good(:
It would be a bit difficult to do but it done well it could work, nice plot and good luck writing it :)
