-In the second book, she says that "I can mend bones in a heartbeat..." so why couldn't she mend Ron's broken leg after Sirius (as a dog) dragged him into the whomping willow? Thank you!!Actually, she did mend his broken leg, he probably just needed to rest a little to be fully mended. Madam Pomfrey believes in making the patient stay longer than he/she needs to, (remember when she--err--reluctantly let Harry join the feast in the second book, not believing he really did get well?), so that may also be another factor. As for the part about mending bones in a heartbeat, I'm assuming she was exaggerating. She probably meant that she'd be able to mend bones easily, but regrowing them would be more difficult. Does that answer your question?
I know, I know, my answer's really long. Sorry...(:Hmm. I think it may have something to do with the magical factor of Sirius biting his leg, conflicting with the magical method of mending it.|||she can and did, the reason ron didnt go back in time with harry and hermione was because peter pettigrew cursed him. of course this is all from the book, in the film they probably just said it for effect.|||His leg wasn't just broken, he was also down in the dirty, abandoned Shrieking Shack for a few hours. Presumably, his wounds were infected and needed more time to heal.|||she could, but Ron's leg needed time to heal as well and Hermione didn't want to risk going back in time with his bad leg, plus "three's a crowd".
or she could have been exaggerating a bit|||lol i believe you have found another controversy in the books|||Plot flaw again :D
