-It's a picture book for a mature audience. The story focuses around toys that are brought to life (or were always living, I'm not sure). The story dealt with very dark themes such as rape, torture, and murder. The main character was some kind of jester/harlequin looking doll (or puppet).I'm pretty sure the book is The Plucker, by Gerald Brom.
