Questions about a kindle?

-My dad wants to buy my mom a kindle and he asked if I could do some research. I was wonder ing the average cost of the kindle and the books?The Kindle wi-fi is 139.99. It only has wi-fi, so you're limited to your house and places with free wi-fi.
