-I mean, if you say that the charactors and everything belong to whoever wrote the original book?Legally, you are breaching the intellectual copyright of the original author/creator of the book or show that you're writing fanfiction about. However, it is very rarely enforced.
If you add a disclaimer that you don't own the original book/show and are not making any money from the fanfiction, then you won't have a problem. There are a few authors who object to fanfiction being written about their work and who ask for it to be removed so just take note of their wishes.
I think that fanfiction.net is covered by a blanket disclaimer, but it you want to add your own as well than you could. On sites such as livejournal or dreamwidth, I always do add my own disclaimer.So lemme get this straight...
