Any ideas of a power for a story?

-So I'm writing a story about a kid whose parents died for an unknown reason, he's raised by his uncles one whose skinny and dirty the other greedy and fat they're his mother's brothers and they consider him and his mom a freak. They don't want to take care of the main character so they drop him off at some school but I want something bad to happen, like he has a special power. Also i want him to meet some characters that I've made to add some inner conflict as well.deja vu.

oh, yeah, i read Harry Potter.



lol! sorry, couldn't resist! you know, i think as far as that goes, just try to think of something origional. i write too, and it's really hard to think of something that hasn't been used before in fantasy. give yourself some time, maybe just think of something happening and a way he deals with it in a supernatural way - you don't even have to understand it yet! and as you see more ideas for him to do things, you'll think of what the source of the power really is :)
